Types of Aircraft

PAX Aircraft or Narrowbody Passenger

Used for flights lasting up to 5 hours due to their limited range and reduced interior space, aircraft of this model have passengers and cargo sharing the flight in separate cabins. Passengers are accommodated in the upper section, while cargo is stored in the lower compartment.

Both the cargo compartment and the door compartments have generally limited dimensions of approximately 160x140x120 cm.

Since cargo handling and accommodation in the compartment are carried out by a logistics operator rather than machinery, there is also an individual volume limit of 150 kg to 200 kg per item.

Widebody Passenger Aircraft

Similar to narrowbody aircraft, cargo shares the flight with passengers in separate cabins. Passengers are accommodated in the upper section, while cargo is stored in the lower compartment.

This type of aircraft is used for flights lasting over five hours and transcontinental journeys due to their excellent range and spacious interior. The dimensions of the cargo and door compartments are larger, typically around 300x200x160 cm.

Cargo handling and accommodation in the compartment are carried out by logistics operators, machinery, and a rolling system on the compartment floor.

The individual volume capacity can reach up to 4,500 kg.

Cargo Aircraft or Freighter

In cargo aircraft, the cargo does not share space with passengers because the entire cabin is available exclusively for transporting goods.

These aircraft are used for longer and transcontinental flights, as well as for short-haul flights within the same continent.

The cargo compartment and door have larger dimensions and can even feature full rear or front fuselage openings.

Regarding the most commonly used cargo aircraft, we have the MD-11 and the B777F, with dimension limits of approximately 330x220x300 cm. Similar to widebody aircraft, cargo handling and accommodation in the compartment are carried out by logistics operators, machinery, and a rolling system on the compartment floor.

The capacity per individual volume can reach up to 6,000 kg.
